What You Need to Pack in Carry-On Bag

It’s hard to believe that just a few weeks ago I was in Detroit for The Eras Tour and in London for Love on Tour. I had intended to post this before the trip, but life got in the way. To reduce my anxiety, I used this post to make sure I packed everything I needed. I do not have a fear of flying. However, my anxiety takes over if my routine is disrupted or if things do not go as planned, such as going through security. Regarding what to pack in your carry-on, I have you covered.

Carry-On Bag Packing List

To bring

I am a weirdo because I enjoy thinking about what to pack in my carry-on bag. I attribute this to my love of carrying around large bags. I acquired this bag from J.Crew, and it is ideal. I also use it as my work bag. It is spacious enough to hold my in-flight essentials but not so large that I overpack (which I am notorious for).

I have been using this carry-on luggage for as long as I can remember. I was excited about it when it first came out, even though I wasn’t an avid traveler. I thought it was super cool and sleek.

To clean

The brand gifted me the carry-on, and I’ve been hooked since.
We all know that planes are just gigantic cesspools for germs, so cleaning is essential. Even before 2020, I was very conscious about hygiene on flights. I always carry hand wipes to clean my seat, tray, and armrests. I recently purchased a spray hand sanitizer that comes in two different scents. It doesn’t dry out my hands, which is a major bonus.

To hydrate
Dry air on planes can be uncomfortable, so it’s important to stay hydrated both internally and externally. I recommend avoiding large amounts of caffeine or alcohol, as they can dehydrate you. To combat this, I prefer to drink plenty of water before boarding and throughout the flight.

As for my skin – let me break it down for you:

  • Face wipes: When traveling, I always bring face wipes to cleanse my skin. I recommend using a cleansing wipe instead of wearing makeup.
  • Moisturize: I use Kiehl’s oil-free gel moisturizer, which has been a staple in my skincare routine for almost a year. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and refreshed.
  • Lips: My lips are always chapped, which is why I conducted a large lip balm review.

To entertain

If I’m not sleeping on a flight, I like to keep myself busy.

I bring my laptop to get work done for the blog. This is my first time traveling with my AirPod Pro Max headphones, and I’m excited to test the noise-cancelling feature. When I’m not listening to my Harry Styles and Taylor Swift playlist, I plan on relaxing with a sleep meditation (more on that below).

To relax

I haven’t taken a long flight since 2019 when I went to Croatia and then Vegas. Usually, I can sleep a couple of hours on the plane, but it’s not ideal. Therefore, I try to make my in-flight experience as comfortable as possible. As our flight to London was overnight, I dressed in layers for comfort. I brought a chunky sweater to wrap myself up in and an eye mask to combat red eyes. Finally, I will take one of my anxiety medications to help me relax and fall asleep.

To keep (nearby)

It is important to keep important documents nearby when traveling. I prefer to have both a physical and digital copy of my passport, driver’s license, and credit card. That is all. I find comfort in knowing that I can lock notes on my iPhone, where I keep the images.

To have

It is always better to be safe than sorry. Let’s now examine the contents of my carry-on. I will refrain from disclosing my exact packing list, but rest assured that it contains all the necessary items.

  • Two outfits and my concert outfits, just in case.
  • Toiletries, so I can freshen up before my room is ready.
  • Underwear (if you’re a girl, you know).
  • Chargers, including international ones.

Are you missing anything in my suggested carry-on packing list?
